Job summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FOOD SERVICES SPECIALIST in the Fleet Readiness Department ofNAVAL STATION ROTA.

Major duties

You will implement standards for efficient and sanitary food service practices and the quality and quantity of food prepared and served to comply with safety rules and regulations. You will recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, or quality of products to increase program efficiency. You will account for issuance of general mess food stocks, monthly subsistence inventories, cash from food sales, cash audits, or disposal of unneeded or spoiled items in accordance with established policies. You will advise employees on food service work or administrative matters.

Qualification

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying food management policies and procedures to make decisions on the daily operations and management of facilities (i.e. food and purchasing specifications, food sanitation/safety, inventory accountability, menu planning, recipe development and basic nutrition); 2) Maintaining and developing safety and operational instructions for equipment usage, food preparation/storage and maintenance of spaces in accordance with food sanitation/safety regulations and practices; 3) Approving the order of food and supplies while remaining within prescribed budgets and allowances; and 4) Evaluating contractor reports and performance to ensure compliance with contract requirements. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: You may also qualify based upon the following education or the combination of education and specialized experience stated in the Qualifications Section of this announcement: You must have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR Completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree OR Obtained an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. OR Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)
