Major duties
Supervise a crew of firefighters Participate in the training of military and civilian personnel of the installation in fire prevention and protection procedures and techniques. Direct fire prevention inspections of buildings, shops, residences, and other facilities in the airport area. Direct all units and firefighting personnel in response to all emergency types. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates. Distribute the workload among firefighters

Modification of Term Appointments In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) working directing the activity of a fire crew 2) working that utilizes fire science knowledge to suppress fires; 3) responding to emergency incidents such as hazardous material incidents and technical rescue operations; 4) driving and positioning apparatus such as aerial trucks, structural pumpers, water tenders, wild land apparatus, crash rescue vehicles, and ambulances in response to emergency incidents; 5) performing life support functions. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the following DoD Certifications: HAZMAT Technician and Airport Firefighter, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and HAZMAT Incident Command. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Emergency Communication Managing Human Resources Partnering Teaching Others Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????08).
