Job summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Fire and Emergency Services of NAVSTA MAYPORT.

Major duties

You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities. You will collaborate with fire fighter personnel to ensure emergency responses (e.g., fire suppression, injured victims, hazardous spill cleanup) are assigned. You will modify the scope and purpose of a fire protection training program to correct deficiencies identified during live firefighting operations.

Qualification

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directing the operation of one or more firefighting vehicles and associated equipment of significant complexity to perform firefighting and rescue operations; 2) Applying firefighting techniques to address fire hazards specific to airfields, including aircraft, special weapons, and hazardous materials; 3) Executing structural firefighting duties in various settings, such as research facilities and large-scale industrial complexes; 4) Employing hazardous materials emergency response procedures, equipment, identification and decontamination procedures; 5) Controlling and extinguishing fires and conducting rescue operations in a maritime (i.e. shipboard) environment. **NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.** Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0000/fire-protection-and-prevention-series-0081/ Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
