Job summary

About the Position: Chief of the Navigation Support Branch, overseeing asset management and maintenance programs for navigation structures, channels, and equipment. Responsible for managing project priorities, budgets, and schedules, providing technical guidance, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. The role also involves supervising staff, implementing asset management strategies, and supporting large-scale water resource projects across multiple states.

Major duties

Plan, direct, and monitor the Navigation Support Branch’s technical support mission. Coordinate responses to managerial requests and assess the quality of service provided by staff. Lead the development of a sustainable asset management plan for the Operations Division, managing risk-based strategies and supervising teams to ensure optimal project performance and stakeholder engagement. Ensure effective use of the Facilities and Equipment Maintenance (FEM) System. Collaborate with managers to analyze maintenance data, support decision-making on repairs, and report on asset management activities. Assist in planning and managing navigation projects, coordinating with stakeholders, tracking project status, and developing corrective actions for schedule delays or operational issues. Manage and justify Operations and Maintenance program resources, overseeing a multi-million-dollar budget. Develop strategies for efficient resource distribution across navigation, environmental stewardship, and safety programs.
