Job summary
You will serve as a Supervisory Distribution Facilities Specialist within NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.
Major duties
You will be responsible for ensuring material is stored and handled in strict compliance with applicable technical manuals, drawings, publications and standards. You will coordinate with vendor, shipyard, and contractor technical personnel to investigate and resolve logistics matters. You will have knowledge of the full range of stock point responsibilities in the areas of inventory, control, storage space analysis, security, material handling equipment, and transportation. You will provide guidance to management concerning storage facility equipment, layout, material handling equipment practices, space/equipment utilization and control. You will have knowledge of Defense Transporation Regulations to ship and account for classified material. You will conduct warehouse optimization projections based on forecasts, inventory fluctuations, and bi-annual excess material reviews. You will have knowledge of Financial Improvement and Readiness Audit (FIAR) requirements including completeness and existence, management review controls, and key supporting documentation (KSD) to overview visits and audits.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing work that involves analytical or managerial work concerned with the management of receiving, handling, storing, and issuing of items within a storage and distribution system for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program: Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1) Managing the receipt, storage, maintenance, assembly, shipment and disposal of inventory of materials for NAVSUP WSS; 2) Performing research analysis to resolve inventory discrepancies using automated information systems; 3) Performing storage projections to ensure adequate storage space is available for incoming items, constantly adjusting needs based on turn- ins and incoming forecasts; 4) Evaluating and making recommendations and proposals for major agency and interagency supply projects; 5) Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work; assign work to subordinates based on priorities.
