Job summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Knox East located at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Major duties

Serve as a Supervisory Aircraft Pilot for the United States Aviation Support Facility (ASF). Establish work schedules and priorities for subordinates based on workload. Provide training support in all phases of aviation unit operations, aircraft maintenance and supply functions. Formulate, standardize, and implement comprehensive flight standardization, evaluation and training programs. Responsible for the operation of the USAR Aviation Support Facility for the Army Reserve Aviation Command.

Qualification

This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for DoD Maintenance Activities. POSITION IS ANNOUNCED AS A STANDING REGISTER (OPEN CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT): First cutoff date to evaluate candidates will be 29 November 2024 at 11:59 PM. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Basic Requirement: Possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates, and/or military rating, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the position. Specialized experience includes: Performing various aviator duties as a Maintenance Test Pilot (MP), or Maintenance Test Pilot Examiner (ME); establishing work schedules, determining priorities, delegating responsibilities, providing feedback to employees, and setting performance standards; assisting with operational budgetary requirements; and providing training in all phases of aviation unit operations, aircraft maintenance and supply functions. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
