About U.S. Army Sustainment Command

The 401st Army Field Support’s mission is to leverage the power of the Army Materiel Command (AMC) and the entire Materiel Enterprise to support the readiness of U.S. Army Central Command (ARCENT). As part of the ARCENT team, the 401st provides logistics support to military and government agencies working to build readiness and security capacity in the region. We accomplish this mission by integrating and synchronizing the reach back capability of the AMC Life Cycle Management Commands (LCMCs) and Program managers under the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA-ALT). Today, the Battalion operates within the ARCENT Area of Operation (AOR) in countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and UAE supporting joint military forces and government agencies such as the U.S. Department of State.

About the Position: Position is with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Supply and Services Division, Ft Myers, VA. This is an open continuous announcement. Applicants will be referred to selecting officials as vacancies occur. First cut-off date will be 15 days after announcement opens and as needed thereafter.
Major duties
Reviews correspondence for compliance with agency correspondence directives. Repairs shoe items to include dress oxfords, pumps, loafers, boots, etc. Performs routine maintenance on machines and/or hand tools. Performs periodic inventories and provides reports.
Qualification

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Shoe Repairer~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common shoe repairs utilizing machines and/or hand tools. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Measurement and Layout Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) PHYSICAL EFFORT The work involves continuous standing at the various machines in order to repair items. Physical exertion is exercised when pulling off heels and hammering in nails by hand. Work does not normally require lifting of items over 30 pounds. Infrequent lifting of supplies weighing over 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS The duties are performed in an area that is well lit and heated. Subject to the danger of cuts, bruises, scratches, or other injuries from use of machines/hand tools. Exposed to machinery noise, dust and vapors from solvents and adhesives used in repair and fabrication work. Required to wear necessary safety equipment, e.g. glasses, gloves.
