Job summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major duties
You will prohibit unauthorized personnel from accessing secured areas to maintain security. You will control personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas. You will limit personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas and allowing access to only those who are authorized. You will monitor and authorize the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. You will confirm facilities, locks, alarms, fences, gates, or other barriers are closed/locked or open/unlocked depending on the time of day and the conditions that apply. You will monitor alarms for the safety of personnel, equipment, and facilities. You will notify emergency personnel when issues arise to assist in protecting personnel, property, equipment, or facilities. You will assess situations to take appropriate action according to delegated authority and accepted procedures.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Examples of specialized experience may include: Prohibiting unauthorized personnel from accessing secured areas to maintain security. Monitoring and authorizing the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Monitoring alarms for the safety of personnel, equipment, and facilities. Assessing visitor needs to make recommendations based on visitor input. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
You may qualify on the basis of education if you have successfully completed at least two (2) full academic years of education above high school.
