About the position: This position is located at the Buckley Space Force Base Fitness Center. This position is considered Regular Full Time. The position is guaranteed 35 hours. As a regular employee you are eligible to accrue leave and are eligible for benefits, including Medical, Life Insurance, 401(k), and Retirement. The starting pay rate for this position is $20.01 per hour.
Major duties
Performs a variety of duties in support of the day to day operations of the fitness center. Maintains order and enforces policy, procedures and safety rules for the fitness center. Types of duties include but are not limited to: preparing the facility for operating or close and securing facility at night. Prepares league schedules, promotes programs and maintains standing and changes. Maintains reservation system for sports courts and fields. Receives, stores and issues a variety of recreation supplies and equipment. Inventories, maintains simple inventory records, initiates actions to restock low supplies, and displays checkout items. Assists with maintenance of lockers. Checks locker rooms and restrooms for cleanliness and cleans area of gym as required. Complies with safety, fire and facility cleanliness procedures. Provides preventative maintenance and makes minor repair and cleaning of equipment as necessary. Assists in the physical conditioning programs by demonstrating equipment, methods and procedures to be used as well as proper safety techniques. Serves as an exercise weight assistant in areas of resistance strength training and exercise. Assists in the development of individual and group exercise and weight training programs. Instructs group fitness classes and serves as a trainer. Advises patrons on proper workout programs. Collects fees for services and resale merchandise. Prepares daily cashier reports and consolidated activity reports. Applies appropriate cash protection procedures, ensures all monies are recorded and safeguarded and deposits funds.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must possess experience that has provided a knowledge of standardized body of rules, procedures and operations related to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation function in order to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment. 6 months of specialized experience in a fitness center preferred, but not required. Knowledge of general office admin and clerical procedures, and automation functions to support office operations. Must have documented 50 hours of individual personal training or group exercise leadership. Must possess a personal training certification by a DoD recognized organization (e.g. ACE, ACSM, NASM). Subject to work an uncommon tour of duty. May require physical dexterity or group exertion (lifting up to 75 pounds). Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination within 60 days of hire. Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check (NAC). Position is a Position of Trust. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. "This is a drug testing designated position. Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
