Job summary
About the position: This is a Flexible (Intermittent) category position located at the Auto Hobby Shop, 423d Force Support Squadron, RAF Alconbury, United Kingdom. There are no guaranteed weekly hours, although the incumbent may be required to work up to 40 hours per week, as needed.
Major duties
Assists with the operation of the Auto Hobby Shop. Monitors patron usage of facility, ensuring patrons observe safety rules and guidelines while carrying out vehicle maintenance or repairs, and that shop equipment and tools are used in the safe and prescribed manner Answers phones and assists callers with general routine information upon inquiry. Schedules appointments for automotive repairs and MOT inspections. Operates a cash register, rings up the sales, receives money and makes change, processes credit card sales, safeguards funds, and prepares documentation for cash fund accountability. Issues basic hand tools to patrons, ensuring tools are charged and returned in a clean and serviceable condition. Assists with opening and closing of the facility. Performs light janitorial duties, including trash collection, keeping the front desk and tool issue areas neat and tidy, cleaning hand tools, and assisting other automotive staff with cleaning the vehicle bays, maintaining the good repair of shop equipment, and tire disposal. Operates a government vehicle to pick-up automotive parts and other deliveries from the front gate. Operates customer cars to move them on and off of vehicle lifts before and after maintenance or MOT inspections.
