Job summary

Major duties

You will function as a Quality Assurance Representative for new construction, restricted availability, repair or regular overhaul of ships You will function as a member of simulated INSURV Board during Builder's Trials and assists INSURV Board during Acceptance Trials. You will develop, implement and coordinate activity and department quality functions. You will monitor the Contractor's Production, Quality and Manufacturing performance in the shipbuilding disciplines including: vessel hull structure, marine equipment, weight handling equipment, damage control, Fueling-at-Sea, and coating systems. You will provide inputs to the contractor's and SUPSHIP corrective action programs by initiating corrective Action Requests (CARS) and follows up to determine corrective action adequacy.

Qualification

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting quality assurance functions for ship building programs (e.g., related to Hull, Mechanical, Electrical Systems inspection; inspection of contractor programs; Interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications; NDI testing) to identify problems and provide recommendations for corrective action. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting with quality assurance inspections for shipbuilding programs (e.g. related to ship fitting, hull fabrication, weight handling systems and equipment, fueling at sea and replenishment at sea equipment and systems, outfitting, ventilation) to ensure compliance with procedural standards. Education

Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows for GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR An LL.M., if related to the position being filled. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows for GS-9: Master's or equivalent graduate degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position OR Completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR An LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position being filled.
