Job summary

You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTION SUPERVISOR in the Inspections Branch (Code 1430.3) Quality Assurance Division (Code 1430) in the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) (Code 1400) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania a detachment of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major duties

You will coordinate the Quality Assurance work between the manufacturing shops, the Inspector Work Leaders and Inspectors, distributing and assigning responsibilities necessary to meet demands of production schedules. You will assign work to subordinate personnel; plan, schedule and assign priorities for such work; evaluate subordinated work. You will make recommendations to the Quality Assurance Manager regarding problems which involve policy determinations, or which may potentially establish precedent in novel situations. You will participate in Work Team Investigations, Casual Problem Analysis and Work Process Critiques to identify problems, determine causes and provide and implement solutions. You will participate in the planning and scheduling of training programs; prepare training materials as necessary; and ensure Inspectors and Work Leaders obtain and maintain required Inspector certifications. You will review performance standards and monitor employee performance throughout the performance rating cycle; recommend action on personnel matters, including selections, promotions, transfers, and separation of employees, etc.

Qualification

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Experience supervising personnel whose responsibility is to evaluate, measure, inspect, test and certify propellers, propulsors and naval ship castings and miscellaneous cast components. Experience training personnel, making oral presentations, writing shift reports, and interpreting drawings and blueprints, testing procedures, standards, and specifications for casting and manufacturing operations at NFPC. Experience in casting and foundry processes, machining operations, propeller manufacturing procedures, and non- destructive testing and inspection techniques. Experience applying principles and practices of Quality Assurance techniques. Experience understanding and applying directives, policy statement and similar guides.
