Job summary

Major duties

You will monitor the Contractor's Production, Quality and Manufacturing performance in the shipbuilding. You will monitor assignments to include: Procedures Evaluation, Product Verification and verification of contractor's records. You will performs inspection, sampling inspection, and witnesses functional tests of ship's equipment and systems. You will verify contractor conformance to applicable safety regulations. You will provide input to the contractor and SUPSHIP corrective action programs by initiating corrective Action Requests (CARS) and follows up to determine corrective action adequacy. You will function as a member of simulated INSURV Board during Builder's Trials and assists INSURV Board during Acceptance Trials. You will be required to work or assist in other offices of the Quality Assurance Department or Project Office as the workload dictates. You will review docking plans and inspects drydocks prior to docking and/or undocking of naval vessels by contractors under the cognizance of SUPS HIP Gulf Coast. You will will assist higher level Quality Assurance Specialists in the performance of Quality Assurance studies and analyses of limited scope and inspect relatively simple processes or products for developmental purposes. You will be Planning - Developing, implementing and coordinating activity and department quality functions. You will conducting audits - Preparation and implementation of audit plans and schedules for Contractor's and activity evaluation to determine degree of conformance. You will be training - Participates in training programs for QA Department and other concerned SUPSHIP Departments and Military (Nucleus Crew) personnel.

Qualification

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing quality assurance work for ship repair or new construction (e.g., Hull, Mechanical, Electrical Systems inspection; material processes, practices and equipment; inspection of contractor programs) to ensure compliance with procedural standards. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with quality assurance work to recommend improvements to industrial, ship repair or construction processes or procedures. Education

Education may be used to substitute for specialized experience: GS-11: successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR- successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR- successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled; -OR- a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. GS-09 successful completion of a master's or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR- successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's. or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR- successful completion of an LL.B. or J.D. degree that is related to the position being filled; -OR- a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
