Major duties
Draft news stories, features, blogs and cut lines, take photos and video, and develop and edit other content for dissemination through print and electronic media. Support the command's official social media presence across a multitude of platforms, researching and post relevant topical items as required. Plan and design visual materials, such as visual products for command publications, displays, and special interest products. Regularly update written and visual material published on the homepage and on command sponsored social media platforms.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. For GS-09: Specialized Experience includes one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service 1) assist in analyzing aspects of public affairs functions which includes: media relations, and community relations; 2) assess the effectiveness of the public information program to develop solutions; AND/OR 3) create contents such as: graphics, desktop publishing , photos and web posting to meet organizational goals. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and experience. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, as long as the computed percentage of the requirement is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). For GS-11: Specialized Experience includes one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which include: 1) Create materials such as: news releases, information papers, decision papers, speeches, trip reports, and other miscellaneous items pertaining to Public Affairs matters; 2) apply knowledge of artistic graphical support required, to include imagery, computer generated graphics, special filtering effects; AND/OR 3) facilitating news, photographic, special project, and information gathering activities. OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in Business Management, Administrative Management or other fields related to the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
