Job summary
Serves as a Pricing Analyst at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) HQ facility. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a grocery pricing analyst providing essential analytical and pricing execution support for the Agency's centralized category management function. Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for executing and refining a retail pricing strategy across categories with the strategic and financial goals defined by senior leadership.
Major duties
Performs pricing analysis in an extremely fast-paced environment that drives the Agency's pricing program. Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high quality products and services and is committed to continuous improvement. Directly responsible for establishing a business partnership with category management teams to quantify and execute revenue strategies. Responsibility includes executing advanced analytical techniques, tools, and scorecards to drive business results and ensure fact-based analytics are utilized when making retail pricing decisions to increase the overall customer experience. Research and tracks competitor pricing and retail market trends and keeps abreast of significant developments with an emphasis on Key Value Items. Performs competitive analyses and evaluates retail and military demographic profiles and consumer purchasing behavior in individual categories and groups of categories, in order to execute a successful revenue strategy. Advanced use of commercial Business Intelligence solutions and spreadsheets to include pivot tables, templates, vlookup, formulaic strategies, and report generation. Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with, Oracle Business Solutions, Alteryx, Teradata, Tableau, or the use of dataset-based report generation with targeted variables and predictive outcomes in a commercial environment. Partners and aligns with business management teams to communicate, negotiate and execute effective product price strategies for each business line. Identifies and executes pricing models for optimal pricing effectiveness to produce patron savings, increase revenue and target margin. Execute proficiencies in market research, syndicated and panel data, price trends and geographic anomalies in order to be able to enhance decision models. Identify and execute pricing processes and models for optimal pricing effectiveness and to increase the Agency's pricing competencies. This position offers promotion potential to a higher grade. To prepare you for the higher grade, work assignments will be progressively more complex. Qualification
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. For the GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level or equivalent to at least GS-11 under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying specialized experience for GS-12: Execute proficiencies in market research, price trends and geographic anomalies in order to enhance decision models. Validate pricing programs, plans and results using data analytics, enterprise solutions and models. Monitor, assess, and report pricing key performance indicators (KPI's). For the GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level or equivalent to at least GS-12 under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying specialized experience GS-13: Translates complex data analysis into actionable business insights to support and drive retail pricing strategies and decisions. Interpret and integrate disparate data i.e., modeling, sales, financial, pricing, and consumer data into reports and presentations for various audiences. Advanced retail analytics (pricing, marketing mix, market structure and annual sales plans), financial measurements, syndicated sales tools, databases, forecasting, and an understanding of industry category management practices. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
