Major duties

Serve as a calibration specialist in the parameters of various electrical, dimensional standards, measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Prepare test and certification reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections, and uncertainties, over a specified range of circumstances for instruments being calibrated. Assist and advise users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements. Serve as a specialist in the physical/dimensional measurement areas. Select, apply, and interpret electronic principles as required to collect, reduce, display, and analyze data.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. Performing common duties which include calibrating customer test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment requiring precise measurement. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.

Evaluations
