Job summary
This National Guard position is for a Police Officer (INDEF) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2499P01 and is part of the 151st SFS located in Salt Lake City, with the Utah Air National Guard. This vacancy is OPEN to current members of the National Guard, and members of the public willing to join the Utah Air National Guard. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is SMSgt Tyson L. Major duties
Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a Police Officer (INDEF) (TITLE 32), GS-0083-7, you will: Performs the full spectrum of police officer duties within the assigned jurisdictions. Required to meet all requirements of Federal, DoD, AF,MAJCOM, State, and local level rules and regulations to maintain trainings and weapons qualifications, as a police officer on a military installation, which may include maintaining Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification. Patrols the installation on foot or in vehicles; responds to alarms, irregularities, and unusual or suspicious circumstances; and investigates the incidents. Enforces traffic rules and regulations, including those related to speed, reckless and drunken driving. Exercises search and assists local, state, or federal law enforcement with arrest authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, and determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action. Appears in court to testify as required in Military Courts-martial or Federal and State Court proceedings. Provides sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness' statements in criminal and traffic courts. Upon notification, responds to Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility(SCIF) alarms and determines probable cause (actual or false alarm). Protects personnel, material, tactical military assets, and high value assets by executing daily Random Anti-terrorism Measure(RAM) and supplemental anti-terrorism measures during increased force protection conditions. Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service, to include protests, active shooter events, and terrorist attacks. Responsible for Entry Control Point (ECP),Traffic Control Points (TCP), Assures criminal or Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures are met to protect installation command and assure mission accomplishment. Conducts Investigations/Surveillance. Conducts surveillance of individuals and areas to obtain information, identify criminal conduct or activities and monitors suspects while serving warrants. Receives, interprets, evaluates, and immediately decide what action is appropriate and implement that course of action. Dispatches police units to alarm activations, crime scenes and natural disasters. Receives and records communications of emergencies, complaints, crimes, and accidents. Performs emergency response and incident command and control. Establishes initial command and control as others react to neutralize threats, secure resources, personnel, and property. Responsibilities are not limited to investigate accidents, also summons rescue squads and firefighters, and redirects onlookers from scene; also responsible for establishing initial Entry Control Point (ECP), Traffic Control Points (TCP), directing emergency vehicles to safe routes, clearing cordon areas, and evacuating buildings. Requirements
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Rank: Enlisted Compatible Military Assignments: 3P0X1 National Guard Membership is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire. Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Potential for Incentive Pay. This position is eligible to be in the union. This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is/are subject to the possibility of a random drug test. Must qualify and remain qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. The incumbent must wear a DAF Police Officer uniform as identified in the DAF Police AFI and required to meet dress and appearance standards when supporting non-DoD agencies IAW the Abidal Status technicians, military uniform will be worn at the discretion of the SFS commander. Must work an uncommon tour of duty, to include nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, rotating shifts, and recall. Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g., respirator mask). Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties..
Qualification

Specialized Experience: Have practical knowledge of security force (SF) activities in direct support of the military weapon systems and physical security; law and order; or area security operations. Work experiences in law enforcement, maintaining law and order, preserving the peace, and protecting life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of civilian/public areas or military installations. Experiences in protecting federal property from hazards such as sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire, and accident or willful damage and destruction. May have experiences in responding to disaster and relief operations and participates in contingencies.
