This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Comp Service Position to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) handles the day-to-day operations of Army installations.
Major duties
Performs installation, replacement, modification, preventive maintenance and repair on variety of plumbing systems. Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall of systems and equipment. Operate tools and equipment such as plumb bobs, mercury gauges, dividers etc. Determines and installs coupling, valves, traps, and unions needed for the proper operation of systems. Makes periodic visual inspections on mechanical piping system.
Qualification

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex Plumber duties. I am skilled in the installation, operation, testing, and repair of plumbing systems and their components such as water distribution, wastewater (sewage) treatment, well systems, non-potable water systems, fire protection systems, Tactical Vehicle Wash Facilities (TVWF), and swimming pools. I work from blueprints, building plans, and similar water/gas utility system instructions and diagrams. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Work involves considerable standing, stooping and bending. The employee is required to work on ladders and scaffolds which frequently involve working in uncomfortable or awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. The employee is exposed to mud and water, and is subject to infection from unsanitary work sites. Injury may occur from use of power and hand tools and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead.
