Major duties

You will serve as a Physical Science Technician in the Radiological Monitoring Division, RADCON Office of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. You will take charge of response to radiation related emergencies and incidents. You will calculate actual or anticipated consequences of occurrences and worst possible consequences. You will ensure adherence to radiological control requirements for assignments which involve numerous processes in several high-skill level trades. You will investigate deficiencies or accidents and determine causes and ways to prevent recurrence.

Qualification

GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience protecting shipyard employees through prevention and control of nuclear incidents; *Experience monitoring work and testing procedures of high skill level trades in dry run, planning, practice or mock-up sessions; *Experience reviewing and appraising special work or projects, adapting portions of training or material to accommodate local needs and analyzing complex problems, deficiencies, and cause of incidents that could not be fully resolved by lower grade technicians; *Experience applying radiological principles, requirements, and procedures, trade work techniques and procedures, and the design and layout of Nuclear Propulsion systems to ensure radiological safety requirements are met. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience protecting shipyard employees through prevention and control of nuclear incidents; *Experience monitoring work and testing procedures of high skill level trades in dry run, planning, practice or mock-up sessions; *Experience applying radiological principles, requirements, and procedures, trade work techniques and procedures, and the design and layout of Nuclear Propulsion systems to ensure radiological safety requirements are met; *Experience evaluating various incidents and assuming full control during radiation-related incidents to prevent and control incidents by determining, directing, and controlling activities of all personnel.
