Job summary
You will serve as a Personnel Security Specialist in the Mission Support Division, Code 127300 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
Major duties
You will review results of investigations conducted by other agencies to ensure security and suitability are met. You will determine appropriate investigation with respect to the position sensitivity reviewing forms and related case papers. You will review results of investigations conducted by other agencies to ensure security and suitability are met. You will prepare and recommend adverse personnel security actions including denial of security clearance and/or eligibility, removal from employment and denial of employment. You will determine situations that merit expanded investigations in order to resolve derogatory or questionable information, then makes a suitability recommendation for approval, removal or warning. You will resolve various personnel security computer discrepancy reports using his/her knowledge of OPM, DOD, and DON security processes, policies and regulations. You will use investigative techniques and requirements to ensure properly scoped investigations for newly hired federal employees and timely re-investigations for all NRL employees and military personnel.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band (NO-01) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. General experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; planning and organizing work; and, communicating effectively orally and in writing. Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successfully completed a four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
