Job summary
About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center at the Center for the Intrepid in San Antonio, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who care new to the Federal Service.
Major duties
Independently fabricate prosthetic and orthotic devices, with direction. Assist with supply inventorying, management, and ordering. Perform duties to maintain the functional/safe operations of the fabrication lab. Assist the primary orthotist/prosthetist to adjust and adapt lower and upper extremity prosthetic devices Perform limited repairs of prosthetic devices.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes fabricating, fitting or repairing orthopedic/prosthetic devices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
