Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), as one of only two Federally-operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). Job summary
About the Position: This position is located in Fort Knox, Kentucky at Kingsolver Elementary School. Kingsolver Elementary School is part of the Fort Knox Schools Community in the DoDEA Americas Southeast District. Kingsolver ES serves students in PK to grade 4.
Major duties
Maintain files, records, create reports, and correspondence. Prepare correspondence in final form. Receive visitors and answer phone calls. Communicate with students, staff, and parents on various matters. Respond to questions and inquiries.
Qualification
Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, developing and proofreading correspondence; answering phones; and directing visitors in an office setting. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
