Job summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will NOT be accepted through this flyer. Major duties

Monitors, allocates, and expends funds for recreational programs, including both Corps programs, and those in collaboration with other Federal agencies. Manages the regional Outdoor professional Recreation Program to ensure that public recreation needs are met, taking into account budgetary, cultural, sociological, educational, health, and historical factors. Ensures that public activities on lands and waters are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and policies. Oversees preparation of the Operational Management Plan (OMP). Develops policies and guidance for the Corps Partnership Program, to ensure field level units have the tools and abilities to develop public and private sector partnerships for the development of recreation and other natural resources activities. Responsible for the development of budgets, obligations and expenditure schedules and cost estimates. Provides for visitor safety and protection through the inspection of facilities to ensure they are free from hazards. Promotes acceptance, understanding, and compliance of Government policies and objectives in meeting the needs of the general public with respect to the use of public lands and lake areas.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for the 0401 series: A. Applicant has a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Verify that the applicant's transcript is a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in one of those areas OR a related discipline. If the transcript meets this requirement, the applicant has successfully met this first step; then, move to the second step. OR B. Applicant has a combination of education and experience which includes courses (See Table below) equivalent to a major in an acceptable degree field (usually 24 semester hours), plus appropriate experience. Then you will need to determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) identifying needs and planning special recreational projects or programs for recreation facilities; AND 2) assisting with budget development/execution and administration service contracts; AND 3) collaborating with public groups to achieve recreation goals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
