Job summary
You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE DISPATCHER in the Public Works Department Base Support Vehicles and Equipment (BSV&E) Product Line of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Major duties
You will receive and evaluate a variety of both recurring and non-recurring requests from afloat and shore-based commands, to rent vehicles and equipment with or without operators. You will evaluate and prioritize requests, select appropriate vehicles or equipment, and schedule operators and equipment. You will serve as the primary or as an alternate fuel delivery systems dispatcher. You will inspect vehicles that are returned for damage, to obtain odometer readings, etc.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing the day to day assignment and control of the inventory and/or acts as the central point of contact for customer vehicle inquiries; 2) Evaluating and prioritizing requests and selecting appropriate vehicles or equipment based on customer requirements; 3) Reviewing schedules and/or inventory, availability of funds, maintenance/readiness of vehicle/ equipment inspection reports and customer qualifications prior to issuing or dispatching vehicles; 4) Inputting, verifying, and/or maintaining all information including odometer readings and other required information into software programs/databases; 5) Reporting suspected, misuse and/or abuse of vehicles; and 6) Assigning operators with vehicles as requested.
