The mission of the 47th Medical Group at Laughlin Air Force Base is to support the 47th Flying Training Wing’s medical, dental and aeromedical needs in support of Laughlin’s Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training mission. The medical group is responsible for the health care of more than 3,400 Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries and ensuring the medical readiness mission for wartime and worldwide contingencies.
Job summary
About the Position: This position is located at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), 60th Medical Group, McClellan Air Force Base, California in the Directorate of Medicine, Medical Operations Division. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Major duties
Receive visitors and patients via telephone and in-person. Arrange and schedule medical appointments and determine patient eligibility for services. Perform medical records, administrative and clerical duties in support of the medical facility. Use multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc. Retrieve data from databases or spreadsheet software to compile standard reports.
Qualification
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position such as 1) performing patient records and administrative duties; 2) receive and direct calls/messages and patients/visitors, 3) schedule medical appointments; AND 4) use office automation software to produce and receive documents. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Education
