Job summary

About the Position: This position is within the Defense Health Agency, located in Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Moore, Georgia. Incumbent is responsible for the receipt, storage and issuance of a wide range of food supplies within the Nutrition Care Division of the facility.

Major duties

Receive and unpack a variety of materials that are delivered to the medical treatment facility. Inspect materials to verify they are correct and in proper condition. Sort, mark, and store materials according to standardized operating procedures. Move items manually, by hand cart, or by other material-handling equipment to designated areas. Utilize computerized logistics system to receipt and track materials for the Department.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common materials handler tasks such as moving items or supplies according to storage requirements; monitoring supply stock levels on a daily basis; evaluating space requirements for maximizing storage capacity; entering equipment details into an inventory management system. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that requires standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries various supply items that weigh up to 40 pounds and may be difficult to grasp. May occasionally handle items that weigh over 40 pounds using hand truck or with assistance. Working Conditions: Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors and occasionally require exposure to bad weather conditions. Storage areas may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, poorly ventilated and lighted. Work is sometimes dirty, dusty and greasy. Is subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents.
