The primary purpose of this position is to provide developmental experience designed to broaden the skills and/or enhance the leadership perspective of an identified high-potential, mid-level manager/executive; while contributing support to the mission and function for the Air Force. It is not a continuing position and assignment duration is strictly NTE is 36 months.

Major duties

DUTY 1: As a Career Broadener, assignments involved in planning, organizing, and directs planning and programming support for identified programs. This includes the development, review, validation, and substantiation of current and long-range logistics requirements to support worldwide mission objectives. DUTY 2: Performs Career Broadening assignments, involved in planning and conducting studies, and develops input for logistics policies and procedural systems applied throughout the Air Force. Develops logistics guidance and criteria for timely and cost effective life cycle support and implementation. DUTY 3: In a Career Broadener capacity, oversees the overall program management and represents and AFSC's strategic capability development, integration and oversight authority for Air Force and AFMC enterprise logistics readiness. Plans and schedules from the standpoint of logistics implementations, technical requirements, acquisition strategy, business strategy, and program execution. Works directly with HQ USAF, MAJCOMs, FOA, DRU and US Army counterparts in maintaining executable programs. DUTY 4: Carries out special projects and assignments designed specifically to meet the broadening intent of the position. Represents the concerns of the organization at meetings and conferences preparing staff studies and various documents to meet special needs. Develops and presents oral presentations; leading and/or serving on steering committees or completing a project aimed at improving organizational effectiveness.

Qualification

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-13 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of DOD and Air Force regulations, principles, and practices pertaining to logistics support functions. 2. Knowledge of a wide variety of logistics support activities including, but not limited to, determination of fund requirements; supply support systems; and, the integration of supply, transportation, maintenance, and other logistics support activities. 3. Knowledge of program planning, funding, and logistics management information systems. 4. Skill in analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting logistics readiness factors, and formulating procedural solutions to problems. 5. Ability to integrate the separate functions in planning or implementing a logistics management program. 6. Skill in effective written and oral communication.
