About the Position: As a Lead Emergency Service Dispatcher, provides emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Maintains an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response.

Major duties

Serve as a Lead Emergency Service Dispatcher, responsible for assuring that personnel assigned to the shift carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions. Answer 911 calls, conducts emergency and non-emergency call processing using Computer Aided Dispatch consoles or capability through NG911 modernization, if applicable, and or Land Mobile Radios. Monitor the installation computerized fire and alarm systems and initiate immediate action in response to all alarms to include coordination with effected agencies and dispatching appropriate response. Operate communications equipment and systems such as Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf, conventional and interoperability radio systems, the criminal database, the Mass Warning and Notification System to coordinate appropriate response. Maintain a variety of records, reports and logs in support of emergency services operations for compliance, reporting, inquires, and statistical data purposes. Please limit your resume to 5 pages. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) operating automation, emergency dispatching, and communications equipment; (2) questioning callers to determine problems and nature of calls to respond with appropriate emergency personnel/equipment; (3) communicating effectively with police, fire, or medical personnel during emergencies; 4) serve as a mentor by providing and explaining guidance on emergency service dispatching policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision Making Interpersonal Skills Listening Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
