Job summary

You will serve as a LEAD ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the ELECTRICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major duties

You will serve as a Lead Engineering Technical specialist in electrical and electronic standards and test equipment. You will be responsible for coordination and management of assigned work performed in Test and Measurement Systems, General Purpose Test Equipment, and Special Support Equipment in the Metrology and Calibration Laboratory. You will be responsible for calibration and processing of equipment. You will support professional engineers in performing experiments, research, and developmental requiring knowledge of technical engineering methods, applications, practices, and principles to work on concepts, prototypes, and experimental projects. You will resolve technical issues regarding local electrical/electronic calibration problems encountered at PNSY using limited TWH EM authority and elevate/communicate through NAVSEA stakeholder chain when necessary.

Qualification

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conveying written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Expresses thoughts persuasively and uses effective modes to reinforce message retention. Experience demonstrating ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences. Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed. Experience providing knowledge of the scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results. Experience applying knowledge of ship, aircraft, or equipment maintenance to plan, schedule, control, and perform modernization or maintenance in a manner that will keep the ship, aircraft, equipment, device, or system in working order or prevent trouble from arising to ensure maximum operational readiness. Experience developing or evaluating new or modified electronic systems. Completing testing, evaluating data, and determining acceptability of equipment modifications, validity, test procedures and data, or legality of operation. Experience analyzing and diagnosing faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment. Interpreting circuit wiring, logic cable diagrams, drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems and equipment to understand the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot the system.
