About Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency
Mission Statement The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is a separate Agency of the Department of Defense (DoD) under the direction, authority, and control of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (USD (I&S). The mission of the DCSA is as follows: -Deliver efficient and effective background investigations, adjudications and continuous vetting to safeguard the integrity and trustworthiness of an agile federal and contractor workforce, and preserve military readiness and warfighting capabilities -Identify and neutralize foreign intelligence threats to the USG’s trusted workforce and critical technologies -Develop and articulate holistic threat picture of risk posed by foreign intelligence entities and hostile insiders, enabling the USG to strengthen our security posture, continuously protect against the evolving threat, and enable action agencies to more effectively counter adversaries -Contribute meaningful analysis to the Intelligence Community (IC)-Manage the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) on behalf of the Secretary of Defense by clearing industrial facilities, personnel, and associated IT systems -Identify and defeat threats presented to critical technologies and through the supply chain -Provide education, training, research, and security awareness to DoD, other federal government organizations, and industry -Execute enterprise management responsibilities for DoD Security and Insider Threat Programs.
Job summary
Serve as Information Technology INFOSEC supporting the Cyber Manager with risk management, security and contingency planning programs under the Enterprise Chief Information Security Office. The incumbent will develop Cyber Compliance Risk Management process flows, guidance, and procedures for various cybersecurity programs including Authorization and Assessment program enterprise wide IAW DoD regulation. Manage the Certificate of Net-worthiness/Approved Products List Program or equivalent.
Major duties
As a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for the following duties: Ensure the rigorous application of information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all systems/networks/enclaves' services. Establish and maintaining partnerships in Federal Government, Industry, and Academia to stay abreast of emerging technologies and process improvement methods. Keep management informed regarding the status of all on-going efforts. Interact with stakeholders, program managers, and professionals on cybersecurity concerns/updates/proposals of varies information technologies. Knowledge of Risk Management Framework, to ensure compliance with DoD regulations.
Qualification
This position has a Basic Requirement for the 2210: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled. Specialized Experience includes: Manages and coordinates development of IT Cybersecurity Systems information processing standards. Monitors systems security, network security, communications risk analysis, security profiles, network audits, software product evaluations, secure network servers, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virus protection, DNS security, backbone security, information assurance vulnerability assessments, and operating systems. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GG-12 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Cybersecurity - Protect and defend information and information systems in order to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability. (AKA Information Assurance) 2. Information Technology Policy and Planning - Develop and promulgate Information Technology strategy, policy, guidance and plans. Monitor to ensure consistency and compliance. 3. Network Operation - Implement, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and/or maintain network systems and associated activities. 4.
