Job summary

Major duties
You will lead a team as a High Voltage Electrician completing high voltage electrical inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities. You will maintain proper work methods, explain steps and or processes to ensure the safety of crew members and safe operations of the equipment. You will lead crews in troubleshooting cable systems to locate shorts, electrolysis damage, capacitance imbalance or cable breaks. You will Interpret federal, state and local safety requirements and procedures.
Qualification
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks related to this position including: 1) Repairing high voltage power generating and distributing equipment (e.g. generators, transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments, and control systems); 2) Reading circuit drawings and diagrams to identify electrical problems; 3) Using high voltage test tools (e.g. oscillators, primary and secondary injection tester,, Power Factor and Relay calibration equipment, meggers, phase sticks, and fault finding equipment); 4) Installing transformers, capacitors, insulators, switches, circuit breakers and fuses for main distribution lines over 600V; 5) Using safety equipment such as hot sticks, rubber blankets, and insulated gloves when working on high voltage systems.
