About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. Major duties

Repair and replacing as necessary, diesel and gasoline engines. Perform assembly of mechanical components, providing technical assistance and repair procedures as required. Use a variety of hand tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and torque wrenches. Read and applying work orders, modification change requests, and illustrations. Assure that machine capacities are not exceeded, and hazardous material/waste are handles, stored, and disposed of properly. Fabricate, modify, and/or repairing electrical systems in combat vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform the common duties of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Leader duties including: determining the proper tools, equipment, or parts that is required for the repairs. I can read guides such as blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals to understand the functions of parts or systems; perform repairs on combat vehicles; and implement troubleshooting analysis to diagnose malfunctions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Efforts: Works in tiring and uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. Requires frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing over large heavy equipment, and working on top of and under equipment, and in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts, carries and moves items weighing over 50 pounds and exerts considerable physical effort in pushing, pulling, turning and positioning items. Utilizes hoists, jacks, overhead bridge crane, and assistance of other workers when heavier items are encountered. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and frequently outdoors in all types of weather. There is exposure to drafts, loud noise, dirt, oils, grease, hydraulic fluid, and the possibility of cuts, burns, sprains, bruises and skin irritations from fluids and lubricants. Observes established safety practices by wearing protective or safety equipment such as ear plugs or muffs, safety shoes, protective eye glasses, face shield, goggles, gloves, rubber aprons and hard hats.
