About the Position: The positions are with the Department of Health Agency, Puget Sound Market, Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Positions are located in Department of Surgery, Urology Services and Dir. of Nursing, Operating Room. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

Serve as a paraprofessional member of the surgical team in the performance of scrub and/or circulating operating room duties with primary emphasis in one or more surgical specialties. Perform duties in support of the operating room service by providing support for surgical procedures ranging from routine, complex, high risk to trauma procedures. Provide health care to all age group (infants, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric served by the operating room. Serve as a scrub technician assembling, selecting and organizing required supplies, equipment, and instruments for specific surgical procedure Ensure surgical procedures are in accordance with operative work sheets, and physician preferences cards. Pass instruments to the surgeon during surgical procedures by anticipating the surgeon's needs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience as a surgical technician aiding the medical surgical team (e,g., surgeon, anesthetist, or registered nurse) in the following operating room functions: preparing and screening patients for surgery; passing medical instruments, medications or supplies during surgery. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
