NON-APPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Golf Course Assistant Professional BUSINESS TITLE: Head Golf Professional FLSA: Exempt JOB SERIES: 1101 PAY LEVEL: NF-3 INTRODUCTION: The position is located in Golf Program, Retail Operations Section, Business Operations Branch, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division of Marine Corps Base, Camp Smedley D. Butler. The primary purpose of the position is to manage the operation of the Taiyo Golf Club driving range to include golf academy, develop a range of lesson plans, and train professional instructors. The position may assume responsibility for the complete operation and maintenance of the golf complex in the absence of the Director of Golf, which includes the supervision of all employees. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the driving range complex and golf instruction center and ensures that all daily operations are in line with the overall golf program requirements. Responsible for direction of, work scheduling, evaluating and advising on the performance of all subordinate staff members. Directs driving range staff to ensure that all policies and procedures set forth for the driving range operation are followed and adhered to. Plans, coordinates, and executes all teaching programs to promote golf and the utilization of the golf complex. Formulates the plans and execution of a comprehensive golf instruction program for beginning golfers, advanced golfers, ladies, and juniors. Directs and trains subordinate golf professionals as to the curriculum guidelines set forth for golf instruction as determined by the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf. Serves as the point of contact for Marine Corps Youth Activities and DODDS in the development of golf instruction clinics and activities for youth. Serves as the point of contact for the Single Marine program in developing and executing a golf instruction program for young Marines and Sailors on Okinawa. Assists the Director in the compiling of all information for submitting the five (5) year and annual budgeting requirements for the complete golf complex. Assists the Director in identifying the need for and in developing specifications for new construction, expansion, renovation, and replacement of golf complex facilities. Assists the Director of Golf and Golf Operations manager in the coordination and officiating of all tournaments and recommends, establishes, and assists in enforcing local rules of play and codes of conduct. Enforces close monitoring of customers for dress and conduct while using the facility. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with ¿Return to Work¿ program initiatives and following up on employee wellbeing. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; OR Have completed a formal vocational training program; OR Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with preference for employment rather than continuing education. (Valid documentation will be required upon hire.) 2. Must be a certified class A member of the PGA of America or accredited by a comparable professional organization and possess knowledge of the operations principles, practices and techniques of Golf Club management necessary to develop an effective, balanced golf program which provides the required services to the various elements of the military community and Japanese participants in a profitable manner. 3. Must have at a minimum, 3 years experience in a golf management role that includes supervisory and planning duties. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of protocol requirements and the ability to supervise and demonstrate support of EEO programs. Knowledge of all aspects of Golf including the rules and customs of the game, grounds maintenance, facilities and equipment, latest trends and an understanding of the tastes and desires of the course users. Skill in implementing procedures which prevent fraud, waste, and abuse of assets and an understanding of internal control procedures, financial statements annual operating budgets, balance sheets, merchandise accountability, controls and inventory.
