Job summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major duties
You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities. You will direct/deploy firefighting operational processes, equipment, and duties during emergency and non-emergency situations. You will perform wildland firefighting by suppressing wildfires using heavy-duty vehicles/equipment, and/or constructing fire lines in hazardous conditions. You will initiate established medical protocols in providing basic life support. You will perform the following Technical Rescue functions: rope, vehicle and machinery, confined space, structural collapse, and wilderness. You will perform hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis. You will select and apply the proper techniques or procedures for fire suppression and emergency situations.
Qualification
***All of the positions require the incumbent to possess certifications*** GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; 5) Driving and operating firefighting vehicles; and 6) Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations as a team member; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade. 2) Performing rescue operations as a team member 3) Operating pumps, foam generators, and other similar equipment. GS-04 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Operating fire communications equipment. GS-03 Your resume must demonstrate at least six months of general experience. GS-04/ GS-03 The position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain the Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification within 12 months of employment. Education
In lieu of specialized experience you may qualify at the GS-05 level with the following education substitute: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study leading to a bachelor degree. OR Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. In lieu of specialized experience you may qualify at the GS-04 level with the following education substitute: Successful completion of a 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related course work. OR Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. In lieu of specialized experience you may qualify at the GS-03 level with the following education substitute: Successful completion of a 1-year related education or training. OR Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. DEGREE AUDITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
