Job summary

Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, Eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants and current DFAS VRA employees. Position is located in the Information & Technology Directorate Office, ZT. This announcement may be used to fill similar positions in the Info & Tech Directorate.

Major duties

Maintain intimate understanding of the views and policies of the Director as well as familiarity with the related DFAS doctrine, procedures and protocol. Maintain the Director's suspense roster and assigns actions based on the function of each division; initiates action to meet internal and external suspense actions; tracks progress of actions; ensures coordination of replies. Serves as the Executive Assistant to the Director, of a (SES) level Director, with responsibility for analyzing and advising on a variety of policies and procedures and resolving and executing a wide variety of actions. Provides executive-level support in an unusually demanding, fast-paced and highly visible environment characterized by critical and time-sensitive concerns facing the Agency. Prepares staff papers to support taskings given by the Director and provides policy interpretations and functional recommendations to the Deputy Director on diverse financial management issues. Performs technical review of staff papers submitted to the Deputy Director dealing with financial issues and programs. Participates in formal and informal management planning, policy and decision-making sessions regarding legislative changes, technological improvements, and changes in government policies and procedures involving resource management issues.

Qualification

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is described as: Serving as a staff expert or advisor on finance related organizational programs in order to recommend solutions, apply and interpret regulatory material, analyze and evaluate problems, and coordinate resolutions that have a multi-organizational or agency wide impact; and providing management consulting services and assistance to supported customers in the application of finance related project/program management theories, concepts, principles and standards. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
