About the Position: Serves as an Explosives Safety Specialist under the supervision of the ASG-BS Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist. This announcement is for Current Army Employees ONLY. Major duties
Reviews, creates and updates site and construction plans for ammunition/chemical facilities submitted through 21st TSC for operational necessity and adequacy of design prior to submission to the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board. Assesses impact of construction of non-ammunition facilities adjacent to ammunition operational areas Reviews hazard classifications of explosives/chemical items for completeness and correctness. Analyzes working conditions and develops ways to improve them for reducing risk exposure. Performs safety review of concept designs, safety site plans, final safety submissions, final design submittals, and hazard analyses for Army facilities. Verifies regulatory compliance as established by European ADR and Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Transportation (DOT)Regulations.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 30-Sept-2029 by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing oversight to operations and activities where ammunition and explosives are stored and handled; developing procedures to minimize and control risks regarding explosives safety matters AND providing training on explosives safety. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Ammunition and Explosives Material Explosives Safety Management Program Explosives Safety Training and Information Dissemination Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS11).
