Job summary
About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Cold Regions Research Engineer Lab. This position is located in Hanover, New Hampshire. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Major duties
Serves as secretary and principal management assistant to the Deputy Director and Executive Office. Interprets incoming actions and correspondences based on content and understanding of organizational function. Assigns actions to staff annotating requirements for completion and target dates. Extends assistance and guidance on administrative policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with officials on status updates and reports for priority issues. Generates correspondences to include memorandums, reports, and briefings. Prepares employee time/attendance and travel arrangements within the organization.
Qualification
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Interfacing with high-level military and civilian officials and high-profile visitors; Arranging complex travel orders to include securing passports, visas, reservations, and transportation arrangements; Validating completion of actions based on Command's views, policies, and practices; Coordinating meetings and briefings at the executive level; and Answering significant inquiries on status of requirements, procedures, formats, and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DK-02 (GS-5). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This announcement MAY be used to fill like vacancies six months from the closing date. All qualification requirements, including time after competitive appointment, must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-03 (equivalent to GS-6/7). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
