Job summary
You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICIAL) in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Major duties
You will use computers and software to prepare narrative summaries and drafting sketches. (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCad) You will review proposals for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness. You will determine costs of material and labor hours and provide sketches and/or detailed drawings to appropriate work centers.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing estimates and/or job plans for recurring preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, facilities condition assessments, and small, medium, and large projects; 2) Initiating meetings with customers and/or personnel from public works offices to determine conditions of job, scope of work, time frame, and safety requirements; 3) Investigating, analyzing, and/or resolving problems pertaining to the design, installation, maintenance, operation or repair of electrical systems; 4) Recommending various systems, material and most economical/feasible construction methods for job completion by shop forces, or support contracts; 5) Preparing detailed job plans in connection with construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of facilities in accordance with applicable requirements: and 6) Identifying the material needed to complete the project, compiling a list of all the material items needed, sizes required, suggested vendor sources, item or part numbers, estimated costs of materials. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
