Job summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major duties

You will assist engineers and technicians in preparing work and/or test procedures necessary for repair, overhaul and testing of ships systems. You will assist engineers and technicians in preparing changes to specific technical procedures, both locally developed or detailed technical requirements established by higher authority. You will apply basic, common rules and procedures for repair of naval ship systems and components. You will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification

For GS-05: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying basic or commonly used rules or procedures of engineering to assist assist engineers or technicians. For GS-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience or 6 months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying basic or commonly used rules or procedures of engineering. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov); Engineering Technical Series 0802 (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Substitution of education for experience: For GS-05: 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. OR A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience. For GS-04: 2 years of post-secondary study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics; OR A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience.
