About the Position: Serves as an Engineering Technician responsible for performing a variety of office engineering duties in support of Construction Branch activities.

Major duties

Provides administrative and technical guidance to the office staff and other field offices. Prepares contract modifications initiated in the field for unlimited dollar amounts. Performs or directs a variety of related duties.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). For the GS-10: One year of specialized experience which includes four (4) or more of the following; (1) performing engineering duties in support of construction activities, (2) providing administrative and technical support, (3) interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications, (4) assisting with preparation of government contracts and modifications, (5) preparing documents and reports such as cost estimates, scopes of work, negotiation memoranda, contract modifications, and a variety of recurring reports, and (6) applying regulations, policies and procedures related to construction engineering practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). For the GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes five (5) or more of the following; (1) performing engineering duties in support of construction activities, (2) providing administrative and technical support, (3) interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications, (4) preparing and negotiating government contracts and modifications, (5) compiling and analyzing documents and reports such as cost estimates, scopes of work, negotiation memoranda, contract modifications, and a variety of recurring reports, and (6) applying regulations, policies and procedures related to construction engineering practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
