Job summary
You will serve as a EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the REGIONAL OPERATIONS CENTER of COMNAVREG SE JAX. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.64% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.
Major duties
You will assess emergency program strategies (e.g., objectives, deadlines, goals) to determine resources needed. You will develop contingency plans to meet emergency management operational requirements. You will brief emergency management staff, organization staff, and local municipalities on day-to-day situations to keep them informed of emergency situations. You will determine needs or resources (e.g., technical expertise, equipment, funding) to support emergency activities. You will work with and assist directing the Crisis Action Team (CAT) during operations to respond to all hazards events.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing and implementing emergency plans, directives, and procedures; 2) Creating training exercises and drills to practice emergency response techniques; 3) Determining required budgeting and resources for emergency programs; and 4) Evaluating an organization's ability to deal with vulnerabilities, emergency situations, and hazards effectively. The incumbent may be required to lift and carry books, files, documents, records, and working papers. A moderate amount of walking and standing is required in getting to and from meeting/conference sites away from the work site. Some travel is required (less than 20%). When augmenting Regional ERG operations or installation-level EOC staffs may require physical demands at incident scenes to help coordinate response in support of the Incident Commander, and serve as the eyes and ears of the EOC OIC, on scene. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most work is performed in a properly heated and ventilated, air conditioned, and well-lighted office setting. Work may occasionally require travel away form the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. Eligible DoD career or career conditional employees shall be granted statutory return rights to their former position for a period of 5 years if continuously employed in a foreign or non-foreign area provided by Executive Order 10895 and DoDI 1400.25, v 1230. Employees that do not exercise their return rights within five years are no longer eligible for return rights and will be treated as a local hire.
