Job summary

About the Position: Serves as a Senior Electronics Technician responsible for test, evaluation, electronic calibration and alignment, and overall maintenance of complex, integrated Air Traffic Control (ATC) electronic systems. Professional level knowledge, skill and competency in a specialized technical area are required for success; scientific methods and analysis are utilized frequently. Unusual urgency, critical programs and tight deadlines are present.

Major duties

Schedules, plans, coordinates, executes, and oversees test, evaluation, preventative and corrective maintenance on complex state-of-the-art ATC equipment and subsystems meeting FAA Category II and Category III complexity Ground to Air Radio Systems. Tower Equipment, Air Traffic Control Communications Switching System (ATCCSS), and Navigational Aids including Instrument Landing System (Mark 20A ILS) among other systems. Performs system modifications as prescribed by the FAA and the U.S. Army. Designs, draws diagrams/schematics, fabricates, and installs electronic subsystems, or other components, as required to satisfy special operational and technical requirements. Performs oversight of an extensive and detailed maintenance management program.

Specialized Experience: One year of Specialized experience which includes conducting system assessments to determine efficiency, performance, and functioning of electronic air navigation / communication systems to include Instrument Landing System (Mark 20A ILS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Incident Management Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Technical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
