Job summary

These positions are located at multiple facilities within the Child and Youth Programs, Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) Guam and Naval Base Guam (NBG). The mission of Joint Region Marianas (JRM) Warfighter & Family Readiness (WFR) is to provide the highest quality programs and services to the military community through self-sustainment across all quality of life programs. Major duties

Major duties and responsibilities are summarized below. The purpose of the Child and Youth (CY) Program Assistant is to provide appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in one or more CY programs. The incumbent works under the direction of the supervisor or other qualified higher graded employee, who provides guidance on scope of assignments and assistance on more complex, non-routine problems. Work is reviewed in terms of results achieved and adherence to established standards and procedures. Routine day-to-day assignments are normally performed independently with technical assistance available from the supervisor when required. Routine assignments are spot-checked; the more technical assignments are closely reviewed for adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Applicants qualifying based on education, time in grade, credentials, certification, training and/or module completion MUST provide proof of education (i.e. official transcripts/high school diploma), personnel action or SFS0, credentials, statement of service, certification, training and/or module completion at the time of resume submission. For entry-level requirements candidates must: -Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. For intermediate-level requirements candidates must: -Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent; AND six (6) months experience working with children or youth in a child or youth setting; AND have completed Navy Entry Level training requirements (Army, Air Force, Marine equivalent accepted). For target-level requirements candidates must: -Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent; AND completion of DOD standardized training courses and possess 1 year of experience working with children and youth; OR -Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent; AND a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Military School-Age (MSA) credential; AND 1 year of experience; OR -Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent; AND 2-year degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development or related field of study, which can include Youth Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Youth Development, Psychology, Social Work, Home Economics with an emphasis in Human Development, or other degrees as appropriate; AND 1 year of experience. **Note: Proof of education, credentials, certification and/or module completion MUST be submitted at the time of application/resume submission. Position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing, may become the basis for removal from this position. ***Please Note: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.*** The work requires considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds. Activities may require incumbent to drive an automobile (to include driving a government vehicle while transporting children). Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease. Must satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with PL 101-647 to include National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI). Must satisfactorily obtain or complete required training certificates and maintain certifications or credentials required by federal, state or National Accreditation institutions utilized as part of DOD's Child and Youth Programs.
