Major duties

Independently, or as a team member, conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property. Coordinates with civil and military agencies involving jurisdictional authority, exchange of information, and similar problems and considerations. Develops and follows leads, takes statements, and gathers information and facts. Serves as Point of Contact (POC) for civil law enforcement agencies required to serve due process to military and civilian personnel on the installation. Processes civil arrest reports. Initiates Police Reports for the arrest of a service member by civil law enforcement authorities for the edification of the command. Responsible for the proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence obtained during investigations, raids, etc. Maintains continuous accountability reports ensuring that items are properly marked, recorded, stored, issued, turned-in, and returned to owner or disposed of by authorization of proper authority.

Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and/or policies; 2) Collecting and preserving evidence at investigation scenes and 3) Coordinating investigations between offices for case completion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Arrest/Apprehension Criminal Investigation Criminal Law Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????08).
