About the Position: This position is located at the Defense Health Headquarters (DHA), DHA Medical Logistics Activity (J4) in Fort Detrick, MD.

Major duties

Serves as the Deputy Director, Medical Logistics (MEDLOG) Directorate and acts on behalf of, and advises the Director, MEDLOG as they provide support to the Director, Senior Staff, Markets and Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) of DHA. Supports the Director, MEDLOG in the leadership, direction, and synchronization of all Directorate efforts. Supervises planning and execution of all Directorate-wide programs, including authority over all Divisions in the directorate. Supports DHA work structure, to include civilian and military personnel, manpower requirements/resources, and workforce development to sustain readiness of the DHA force. Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters. The incumbent supports the Director, MEDLOG in the exercise of supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate Division Chiefs. Serves as the Deputy Director, MEDLOG senior civilian advisor and provides subject matter expertise on civilian and military personnel policy.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Decision Making Leadership Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
