Job summary
You will serve as a ANTENNA ELECTRICIAN in the Telecommunications Dept. of NAVAL COMMUNICATION.
Major duties
You will serve as an Antenna Mechanic. You will perform the duties of a Journeyman High Voltage Electrician. You will climb and perform Electrician and Antenna Mechanic duties at heights ranging from 100 to 1000 feet. You will repair and maintain VLF antenna network, consisting of 26-800 to 980 feet steel towers, 36-200 feet counterweight towers, 42 hoist houses, antenna grounding system, etc. You will perform continuous visual inspection looking for cables out of place structural damage and electrical arcing.
Qualification

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Repairing antenna panels, ground system components, performs maintenance repairs on VLF Feed through bushings, electronic components of helix coils, coax transmission lines, switch gear and variometers; Maintaining high frequency antennas up to 120 feet in height and perform gut-tensioning functioning using instruments such as sine measuring devices, hydraulic guy jacks and dynamometers; Installing, repairing, maintaining electric wires, poles, support, transformers, electrical distribution systems, control systems, transmissions lines, and lighting circuits associated w/VLF and HF antenna systems to include but not limited to tower lightings, Fix drum hoist operation, motor, analog and digital instrumentation and building lighting and power distribution both in and out doors; Developing installation plans, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams; Inspecting/repairing cables, clamps, elements, rotation systems, coaxial cables, inner and outer conductors, gear box, guy cables, guy anchors, ground screens upper and lower insulators, spark gaps, feed assemblies, and plumb poles; Repairing and maintaining all electrical aspects in the high frequency antenna farm.
