Job summary
You will serve as a AIRCRAFT FREIGHT LOADER in the AIR OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NB CORONADO.
Major duties
You will Inspect outgoing palletized cargo to verify pallets are within size limits. You will tow disabled transient tactical vehicles away from runway to designated safe area in the event of an emergency. You will comply with established guidelines and instructions (e.g. safety guidelines, equipment use, security requirements, DOD regulations and policies) for loading or unloading aircraft. You will operate ground support equipment and material handling equipment in support of aircraft operations. You will provide flight line services using proper flight line hand signals, install/remove gear pins, wheel chocks, tie downs and loading stairs, and arrange fueling of transient aircraft. You will comply with established guidelines and instructions (e.g. safety guidelines, equipment use, security requirements, DOD regulations and policies) for loading or unloading aircraft.
Qualification

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision: WG-5: Receiving, processing, and building cargo pallets; operating ground support equipment to support aircraft operations; and properly screening cargo. WG-6: Performing basic maintenance or troubleshooting on material handling equipment; screening baggage using automated or manual methods; and performing basic administrative tasks, such as filing manifests, bills, cargo logs, and passenger logs. Physical Demands: Position is a very physically demanding job involving prolonged standing and lifting of heavy objects up to 75 pounds (two-person) for short periods. The incumbent must be in good physical condition to avoid injury. Incumbent must have good, quick body movements when assisting with handling aircraft and making couplings between vehicle and towed equipment to aircraft requires moderate physical effort. Working Conditions: On-the-job hazards include exposure to flight line dangers including jet intake and exhaust, propellers, engine fires, and fuel fires. Area exposed to high-noise level considered hazardous only if proper safety precautions are not observed. This is an outside position with very dirty conditions and exposure to weather extremes. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of burns, cuts, bruises, and/or broken bones. Incumbent works in confined cargo areas in aircraft. Incumbent required to wear such safety devices as cranial, ear plugs, goggles/safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes. Works around moving, high tension equipment.
