Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff level Software Engineer to join our team supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU).  This position would be based in either Aurora, CO, Fairfax, VA, Linthicum, MD, or Morrisville, NC.

Job responsibilities will include but not be limited to:  Technical Lead as the Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART) of the Tactical Edge Family of System (TEFoS) Software Baseline. Roles include ensuring the smooth operation of ART events and practices and assist Agile Teams in their success. The RTE facilitates communication with stakeholders, problem-solving, and risk management. The RTE also manages impediments and fosters continuous improvement. They will be collaborating with Product Management, the System Architect, and Business Owners to achieve effective outcomes on the ART. Beyond the ART, RTEs aid in the broader Lean-Agile transformation by coaching leaders and teams across the organization.

This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have an active TS/SCI clearance at time of application.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a comparable STEM degree with 12+ years of software development experience; 10+ years with a Master's; or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Agile Experience including setting up and managing JIRA boards, filters, and reports.
  • Understanding of Software Development lifecycle with Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting. 
  • Understanding of Northrop Grumman Agile Community of Practice (CoP) and best practices. 
  • Candidate can have experience in either Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) or Software Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain knowledge. 
  • Prior Scrum Master or Release Train Engineer (RTE) experience.
