Our Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer specializing in EMI/EMC/EME/RF to join our fast-growing Engineering Homeroom team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

You will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS). LSMS provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-1 and B-2 Bombers, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability.

      

You will support the Lead Engineer in execution of various program activities, to include Test system design and evaluation, design and development of communication, flight controls, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The position will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense or commercial systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as subject matter expert in regard to EMI and EME part selections and designs

  • Approve replacement parts subject to nuclear survivability standards

  • Complete analysis of part and design changes impacts on EMI qualification to Mil Specs and weapons system platform standards

  • Develop, review, and approve EMI test procedures, specifications, and test limits

  • Execute EMI testing, monitor EMI tests per specification, troubleshoot, and document all test activities

  • Review Qualification Test Procedures (QTP)

  • Review and approve vendor provided ionizing radiation QTP

  • Review and approve vendor provided Thermal Flash QTP

  • Plan and conduct Low Level Continuous Wave (LLCW) characterization on AV-1

  • Plan and conduct Loop Resistance Test (LRT) on AV-1, MS-2, and MS-3 of selected wire harnesses

  • Plan and conduct an aperture shielding test using the Single Point Excitation for Hardness Surveillance (SPHES) test technique Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks​

  • General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and technique

  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned​

  • Has technical insight and experience to know if test set-up and results make sense​

  • Ability to establish and maintain infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.​

  • Coordinates with team lead, electrical technicians, and I&T managers to complete tasking. May participate, prepare, and present material in program review boards (PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, FRBs, etc).​​

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 9 years of engineering experience or a master’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience or a PhD degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.

  • Experience with EMI/EMC/EME test and RF systems

  • Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot/repair hardware components

  • Experience with CAD or similar design tools

  • Experience with aerospace systems

  • Experience with Air Force customers and aerospace industry and military standards 

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and have the ability to obtain/maintain access to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher)

  • Experience with test planning at the circuit card, equipment, and system level

  • Experience with nuclear survivability analysis and hardened systems

  • Experience with information security, COMSEC and TEMPEST

  • Experience with DOORS and general requirements management best practices

  • Experience with embedded software development and/or cybersecurity

  • Experience conducting analysis of electrical components within aircraft maintenance programs, determining effectiveness, and creating written recommendations for increasing efficiency and effectiveness

  • Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot/repair hardware components

  • Experience with CAD or similar design tools

  • Experience with aerospace systems

  • Experience with Air Force customers and aerospace industry and military standards
